Healthy ME - Day 11

Yesterday was my day off/Cheat Day!

I love cheat days and yes.... cheat days are important to have from a psychological and physical point of view. It's not easy to just completely change your diet and go"cold turkey" on a lot of the foods we enjoy eating. For me, grilled cheese and pizza are about as good as it gets. Now, clearly it's not the healthiest choices and for what I want to accomplish, I can't be eating grilled cheese for lunch and pizza for dinner everyday.

I think we can all understand the psychological side of eating chicken and salad every day... BOOORING.... right? Well that's why we have the cheat day. Something to look forward to, something to reward our discipline throughout the week. Make it a good one but don't go overboard. Feel good about it, really enjoy your cheating! A lot of people will feel guilty but don't allow yourself to feel this way. You worked hard this week, you deserve it!

Physically, if you eat chicken and salad every day, you will become healthier, no doubt. But, did you know that similarly to doing the same exercises over and over again, your body will adapt and eventually the exercise becomes less effective. Well, over the last few years, there has been research to suggest the same principle applies to diet as well. So, really, cheat days help keep your body processing the food you eat optimally.

As for my routine today, it will be 30 mins on the exercise bike after work. I will also do an ab routine but other than that, not too much. My gym here in Dawson Creek is only oopen from 12-5 today and I am at work during those times.

So... for todays spotlight exercise, I chose the hanging leg raise. This movement will "rip" up your lower abs expecially. If done properly, avoiding any "swing" to your body while performing the movement, it is, in my opinion, the most intense ab exercise out there.
