Well, on days off my land lady called me. I never answered and she left me a message. After the meeting I was in finished up, I checked the message:
"Hi Scott, it's Brandie. Sorry to bug you on your days off but, I had to go into the rental suite today. I just wanted to let you know. When I got in there, I heard a noise coming from the crawlspace so I opened the trap door to find water rushing in at an alarming rate! I called a family friend and they came over to help me and I'm not sure what's going to happen but I just wanted to let you know what was happening. Call me when you can!"
"GREAT!" with an abundance of sarcasm, was my reaction!
"What am I going to do now?" Hotels and dogs don't usually go hand in hand and the hotel I know that allow dogs, goes at a rate of $120/night! I started to panic!
Then the thought came through my mind, "this is exactly what I always tell people all the time, not to do! I tell people to not focus on the bad or it will bring more bad. Focus on good and creative ways to solve the problem instead of perpetuating it." So I changed my thinking instantly and enjoyed the rest of my days off, knowing a solution would either work itself out, or it would manifest itself to me and inspire me to take action when I needed to.
To make a long story short-er, I came back up to Dawson and stayed in a hotel until tonite, which will be my third night, and tomorrow we go back to the rental unit. Thankfully the water never raised above the opening of the trap door down to the crawlspace and no water was able to enter the living space. The restoration company was able to come and clean it up and we are no longer orphans away from home!
